- I have been truly blessed in my life. I have been happily married for 28 years and have three wonderful sons. We had an unbelievable opportunity to make a life changing move to Arizona from Buffalo NY at the end of 2005, and are presently living life with abandon in Mesa and enjoying the endless sunshine.
I'm beginning work on my business - Holistic Retirement Living. It combines all of my experience and uses a Body, Mind and Spirit approach to moving people forward in their lives. I have a sense many women in their 50's struggle because those areas of their life are out of balance. They have lost touch with who they are and after a lifetime of giving to others need to relearn how to take care of themselves. This is so important as we age for it allows us to accept inevitible changes with grace.
I am also writing a book for women heading into retirement It will address the different expectations and demands put on us, just by virtue of who we are as women. I would welcome any stories, insights or views on aging you would like to contribute on this site or at my other blog.

Bringing Your Dreams To Life
There seems to be a preexisting blueprint for life as we get older. It has the ring of a door closing on the productive time of one's life. It reminds me of the line in the movie "The Sound of Music" when Mother Superior tells Maria "When God closes a door, He opens a window." Perhaps it is time for women approaching retirement to seek that open window. I'll let you in on a little secret. If you look closely, you may discover many windows awaiting your attention.

Take Responsibility For The Life You Are Living
I believe in the Law of Attraction. I not only believe in it, I live my life according to it. I was trained in the sciences with a research focus. Universal Laws will never change. They provide a solid ground from which to experiment with theories. "What goes up, comes down." "The sun rises in the East and sets in the West." Knowing that there is an order to the Universe provides us with a certain safety and comfort. Even the choices we make in life follow unchanging laws.

Thank you so much for sharing. Your story reminds me of John Assaraf's story in The Secret when he visualized the house he was living in for the past five years. It is truly amazing and something I am working with to manifest the direction I want my life to go.
My friend who I sometimes write with, tells me if I just get out of my own way, I am able to write. She is right. I just have to get focused and sit down and write.
That's what happened when I co-authored a book with her and another friend (Shared Grace: Therapists and Clergy Working Together).
We do have much in common and I too look forward to more dialogue.
